Nigeria’s Flying Eagles head coach Ladan Bosso has hinted that his lads will not take any chances against the Scorpions Gambian U20 national team on Monday in the semifinals of the AFCONU20 in Egypt.
After beating the Hippos of Uganda 1-0 in the quarter-final, the Nigerian side will face the Scorpion of Gambia in the semi-final of the competition.
The former Bayelsa United handler made this known during prematch press conference on Sunday, Nigeria U20 coach Ladan Bosso said the fact that Gambia has not lost any match, it should not be a yardstick to say they are ahead of his team ahead of tomorrow’s semi final clash at the Cairo International Stadium.
“It could be a blessing in disguise for us that they have never lost and we have lost and adjusted, and come tomorrow, we will see what happens because no matter the situation, you cannot be in the finals if you cannot beat the best.”
“Even if it’s a draw, penalties will separate us, but we don’t even hope that we will reach that stage because we know how prepared we are and we have an idea about this Gambian team, so we will see what happens. The game is open, but I think we have an edge.
ON COMPARISON
“Gambia is a smaller nation compared to Nigeria, but in football, you don’t look at that; you look at the qualities of the players on the field.he said.
“There are more professional players in the Gambian team than Nigeria.
“Nigeria is a team of determination. Based on the matches we played, we won not because of technique but tactics and determination. So the mindset of my players is what is giving me confidence ahead of this game.” Ladan Isah Bosso the Flying Eagles coach said.
